PDEA Agents Bust Drug Den in Iloilo City, Seizing Suspected “Shabu” Worth Php 136K
ILOILO CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has arrested three suspects in a drug bust operation in Iloilo City, confiscating suspected Methamphetamine Hydrochloride, also known as “shabu,” worth an estimated Php 136,000.
The operation was conducted by the PDEA VI-Regional Special Enforcement Team-Alpha and the PDEA Iloilo Provincial Office, who successfully apprehended Rey Montaño y Ponce de Leon, the alleged drug den maintainer, Hazel Ortega y Ballares, a drug den employee, and James Francisco y Melliza, a drug den visitor.
According to PDEA, nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing approximately 20 grams, were seized during the operation. Additionally, buy-bust money and other items were also confiscated.
The arrestees are now facing charges for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12, Article II of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The suspects are now awaiting trial and could face severe penalties if found guilty.
PDEA continues to implement aggressive measures to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country, and urges the public to report any suspicious drug activities in their communities.
