Tropical Depression “Amang” Brings Rains and Gusts to Visayas and Mindoro
In the early morning of April 11, Tropical Depression “Amang” was located at 495 km East of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. Moving at a speed of 20 km/h to the West Northwestward, the tropical depression has brought rains and gusty winds to Northern and Eastern Samar.
Central Visayas and the rest of Eastern Visayas are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the effects of “Amang”. The rest of Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by the said tropical depression and localized thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds from Northeast to North will prevail over Eastern Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro, with moderate to rough seas. Meanwhile, light to moderate winds from Northeast to Northwest will be experienced over the rest of Visayas with slight to moderate seas.
As “Amang” continues to move towards the West Northwestward direction, the public is advised to monitor updates from their local disaster risk reduction and management offices for any possible impacts.
