ILOILO CITY – Rommel John Celestre, the suspect in the murder of Christine Gabayeron, has been charged today, Tuesday, April 11, 2023. In a press conference with Police Lieutenant Colonel Albert Sy, the chief of the Mandurriao PNP, Sy confirmed that Celestre’s gender was one of the circumstances leading to their filing of the murder case.
Gabayeron’s cellphone, which was lost at the crime scene, was confirmed to have been taken by Celestre. However, he threw it away in the Negros area, and it was later recovered by the police. Celestre had no intention of stealing Gabayeron’s phone.
Celestre’s drug test results have not yet been released, so it is unclear if he was under the influence of illegal drugs when he killed Gabayeron. According to Sy, there was an incident between Celestre and Gabayeron, and the reason for Celestre’s anger was the price that Gabayeron demanded.
Despite the difficulties, Sy remains positive that justice will be served. The Mandurriao police will do everything in their power to provide the public with the service they deserve.
The people are waiting for justice to be served and to finally get closure on the tragic loss of Christine Gabayeron. Celestre will now face the consequences of his actions, as the case moves forward.
