Car falls into river in Dumangas, driver survives
ILOILO CITY – A car fell into a river on Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 2023 in Barangay Bantud Pabrica, Dumangas, Iloilo, due to the driver falling asleep at the wheel.
According to Police Staff Sergeant John Mark Tuason, investigator of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station, the driver, Remiel Angelo Divieza, 24 years old and a resident of Barangay Tambubu, was traveling from the city of Iloilo to Dumangas when the accident occurred.
Tuason stated that Divieza fell asleep while driving, hitting some bamboo fence and improvised bamboo lamp posts before plunging into the river. Luckily, Divieza was able to escape the vehicle, which suffered minor damage from hitting some oyster shells in the river and his car left submerged in the river.
Divieza is now safe and out of danger, and Tuason expressed relief that no one was injured in the incident.
