Drunk man shot in Leganes KTV Bar due to misunderstanding
ILOILO CITY – In a regrettable incident that took place in the early hours of February 19, 2023, a man was shot at a KTV bar in Barangay Bigke, Leganes.
The victim, Renante Dela Cruz, a 42-year-old resident of Manhut Sur, Balasan, was involved in a drinking session with Charlo Villacarlo, 31, a resident of Barangay Tagbak, Jaro, and their companions when a heated argument broke out between the two men.
In a phone interview with Radyo Bistado, Police Captain John Paul Robles disclosed that Dela Cruz expressed his intent to file charges against Villacarlo. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption and the need for responsible gun ownership.
The station commander of Leganes Municipal Police Station added, Villacarlo, allegedly intoxicated and in possession of a .38 caliber revolver pistol, pointed the weapon at Dela Cruz and fired, hitting him in the left arm. Villacarlo reportedly attempted to flee the scene but was eventually apprehended after running out of ammunition and collapsing to the ground.
Dela Cruz was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment, while Villacarlo was taken into police custody. The investigation revealed that the firearm used in the shooting did not have a permit and was illegally obtained.
