Police Seize Over a Million Pesos Worth of Suspected Shabu in Molo Buy-Bust Operation
ILOILO CITY – Police have seized over a million pesos worth of suspected shabu in a drug buy-bust operation led by Police Captain Glenn Soliman in Barangay West Timawa, Molo at around 3:00 AM.
The operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals: Michael Segotier, 35, from Barangay San Juan, Molo, and Earl Declay, 34, a resident of Zone 3 in the same barangay.
According to Soliman, Segotier sold a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to an undercover officer using the buy-bust money worth 16,000 pesos. A subsequent search of his possession led to the discovery of 20 sachets of varying sizes containing suspected shabu. Declay, on the other hand, had three packs of suspected shabu in his possession.
Soliman revealed that Segotier had previously been arrested for selling marijuana, while Declay had only been experimenting with shabu before becoming a regular user.
Segotier was identified as a high-value individual on the regional priority list for illegal drugs, with the confiscated suspected shabu weighing 160 grams and estimated to be worth 1,088,000 pesos. Meanwhile, Declay was considered a street-level individual.
The two were under surveillance for a month prior to their arrest. During this time, Segotier was seen acquiring a supply of illegal drugs in the city of Iloilo.
Segotier and Declay are currently in custody at the Molo Police Station and will face charges under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The incident highlights the ongoing problem of illegal drug use and trade in the area, with authorities remaining vigilant in their efforts to curb its spread.
