Friend turned Foe: Security Guard Shot by Suspended Colleague
ILOILO CITY – A security guard was shot by his own friend at around 10:30 pm on Thursday, March 8, 2023, in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
The victim was identified as Harold Ticot, 36 years old, a resident of Barangay Bitas, Tigbauan, Iloilo. The suspect was identified as Lloyd Katipunan, 36 years old, a resident of Barangay Guan, Leganes, Iloilo.
In an interview with Radyo Bistado, Police Lieutenant Benjie Bellejera stated that Ticot worked as an assistant security officer under the company First Delta Security Group Incorporation, where Katipunan also worked as an employee but was suspended from work for two months.
Ticot was shot inside their office located on the 8th Floor of the Strata Building. He was hit in the chest and stomach by a homemade gun allegedly used by Katipunan, although no weapon was recovered from the crime scene.
After the crime, Katipunan immediately fled on his Rusi 200 motorcycle in an unknown direction.
Bellejera believes that Katipunan’s frustration over his suspension from work may have led him to shoot Ticot.
The police are investigating the incident as a possible case of frustrated murder, and if it is found that Katipunan planned the attack, he will face charges.
Ticot is currently being treated at the Iloilo Doctors Hospital and is in critical condition.
The Mandurriao PNP is conducting a hot pursuit operation to apprehend Katipunan.
