Iloilo City Police Successfully Recovers Stolen Motorcycle, Arrests Suspects

ILOILO CITY – After five days of intensive police operations, a stolen motorcycle owned by Job Misajon Y Espanilla of Brgy Sinikway, Lapuz, Iloilo City has been successfully recovered. The recovery operation was carried out by the PNP elements of Police Station 1 led by Officer-In-Charge PCPT Peter John Ramos. Furthermore, Joshua Corsino y Arca and his minor accomplice, who had conspired and sold the stolen motorcycle on Facebook, were arrested by the police.

On April 18, 2023, the motorcycle owner reported the theft of his vehicle after he discovered that it had been stolen when he returned to where he parked it along Iznart St., City Proper. Five days later, he returned to the police station to report that his motorcycle was posted for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Following this lead, the police conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the suspects, who were caught selling the stolen motorcycle to a police-buyer at the public plaza of New Lucena, Iloilo.

Upon initial questioning, Joshua Corsino claimed that he had bought the motorcycle from Rommel Robles for P18,000 on an installment basis. The police conducted a follow-up operation to investigate Robles, who was subsequently arrested, along with his cohort Ranjit Maga y Marcelino, when they agreed to meet Corsino at Brgy. Villa Anita, City Proper to pay for the full payment of the motorcycle.

Further investigation revealed that Rommel John Robles had been previously filed with a case of violation of RA 6539 (Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972 and RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) on February 25, 2018 but was dismissed by the court for non-appearance of the complainant while Ranjit Maga y Marcelino was arrested by joint elements of PS1, RAIDSOG, and PDEA 6 through a buy-bust operation on August 29, 2016, for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) but was able to avail of the Plea Bargaining Agreement.

All the arrested suspects are now detained in the Custodial Facility of Police Station 1, and charges of violation of the Anti-Fencing Law and Anti-Carnapping have been filed against them in court.
