Jealous suspect arrested for shooting in Pototan
POTOTAN – Ian Pedroso, a 50-year-old resident of Bagacay, Pototan, was arrested by the Pototan Municipal Police Station at around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023, in Barangay Dawis, New Lucena.
In an interview with Radyo Bistado, Police Staff Sergeant Richard Cabucos, the investigator of the case, stated that an informant had seen the suspect walking on the road in Dawis, and they immediately confirmed that it was Pedroso.
Pedroso had a dispute with Michael Ryan Mendoza, a 38-year-old resident of Guinacas, Pototan.
Mendoza was riding a motorcycle when Pedroso shot him at the neck in Barangay Bagacay Pototan, Iloilo on Sunday, February 26, 2023. According to Cabucos’ investigation, Pedroso’s wife, Rosel Pedroso, had a previous relationship with Mendoza, but it is unclear how long it lasted.
Cabucos also stated that Mendoza was shot at the neck once and fell down, causing a lot of blood to flow, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Cabucos recovered an empty shell of a .45 caliber gun believed to have been used in the shooting.
Ian Pedroso is an active Barangay Tanod in their area. As per the latest report from Cabucos, Mendoza is currently at Medical City Hospital and is in stable condition.
At present, Pedroso is in custody at the Pototan Municipal Police Station and will face charges of frustrated murder.
