New Regional Director of PRO6 Visits ICPO, Aims to Enhance and Uphold Police Services in Western Visayas
ILOILO CITY – In a bid to strengthen the police force’s service delivery and promote integrity, Police Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, the Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6), paid a visit to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on Wednesday, June 6, 2023, at Camp Achilles Plagata, General Luna Street, Iloilo City. The visit was warmly received by Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, the City Director of ICPO, and the entire police contingent.
During his visit, General Villaflor emphasized the importance of active and aggressive operations by all ICPO units, ensuring that each operation is conducted with honesty and professionalism. He stressed the significance of adhering to standard operating procedures, stating, “We do it by the book, we do it with the bounce of the law.”
General Villaflor also addressed the welfare of police personnel, highlighting the government’s efforts to double the salaries of police officers, particularly those in lower ranks, compared to other government employees. He urged the police force to fulfill their duties diligently and avoid idling in one place, emphasizing the need for vigilance to prevent any actions that could cause losses to the government.
Moreover, General Villaflor expressed his zero-tolerance policy towards police officers involved in illegal activities, warning that any officer caught engaging in misconduct or criminal behavior would not receive special treatment.
The Acting Regional Director also prioritized the implementation of Information and Communication Technology and Development initiatives to curb cybercrime and enhance cybersecurity. Community engagement was also discussed during his visit, recognizing the significance of building trust and collaboration between the police and the local community.
As part of the visit, a random drug test was conducted among all ICPO members to ensure a drug-free police force. General Villaflor also reviewed the accomplishments of the various lower units within ICPO during a command visit and conference.
